Multi-Engine Add-On
Earning your Multi-Engine Rating allows you to fly aircraft with more than one engine, expanding your skill set and opening the door to more advanced and capable aircraft. This add-on rating enhances your safety, system management skills, and overall confidence in complex flying environments. While the FAA does not require a minimum number of hours for this rating, most pilots complete the training in approximately 10–15 hours.

Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI)
The Multi-Engine Instructor (MEI) certificate qualifies you to teach in multi-engine airplanes and is a key step for instructors advancing toward airline or charter careers. As required by the FAA, you must have 15 hours of PIC time in multi-engine airplanes before taking the MEI check ride. Because your Multi-Engine Add-On is flown under instruction, those hours do not count as PIC, so you will need to log these 15 hours after your check ride.
